Knowledge sharing and mutual improvement training in Athens
From Monday, 16th until Thursday, 19th of October 2023, an Erasmus+ TICHE 4-day training was held in Athens, organised by Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB). During the 1st day took place at ATHENA RC, Prof. Phoebe Koundouri (Professor Athens University of Economics and Business & Technical University of Denmark; President European Association of Environmental Resource Economists, Director Sustainable Development Unit at ATHENA Research Center, Chair SDSN Global Climate Hub, Co-Chair SDSN Europe) gave a Keynote presentation on the Financial, Social and Environmental aspects of Sustainability. Then, Dr Ebun Akinsete (Head, Department of Stakeholder Analysis and Decision Support Systems, Sustainable Development Unit – ATHENA RC | UN SDSN Greece | AE4RIA Network) introduced participants to stakeholder engagement and participatory approaches, and Ms Lydia Papadaki (PhDc, researcher, ATHENA RC | AUEB) showcased a stakeholder engagement technique, the Fishbowl strategy.
During the 2nd day, held at AUEB, Dr Kostas Dellis (Senior Researcher, ReSEES, Athens University of Economics and Business) presented the “Green Innovation and Industrial Policy” and Dr Conrad Landis (Senior Researcher, Adjunct Lecturer, AUEB) talked about the “ESGs and SDGs Acceleration and Quantification”. During the second day, TICHE Partners also discussed the delivery of the TICHE Academy Pilots. On the 3rd day, participants visited the Lavrion Technological & Cultural Park, where they had the opportunity to be presented the history of the park by Mr Assimakis Chadoumelis (Site Manager, Lavrion Technological & Cultural Park). They also visited the Hydrogen building guided by Assit. Prof. Antonis Peppas (Assist. Prof. at National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Project manager of research and innovation actions) and the Energy-driven Bio refinery demo plant, which is a result of the Life CIRCforBIO project, by Dr. Konstantinos Pasatis (chemical engineer).
During the 4th day, held at AUEB, TICHE Partners discussed the delivery of the Multiplier Events in their country. Finally, Dr Argyro Zisiadou (Senior Researcher, Laboratory of Operation Research, Dept. Economics, University of Thessaly; ReSEES, Athens University of Economics and Business) presented the “Market reaction due to unexpected events and environmental hazards”. The knowledge shared through this training will be employed in the TICHE initiatives and local multiplier events organised by each partner in Greece, Germany, Italy, France, Ireland and Finland that will take place until the end of April 2024.
TICHE project aims to promote initiatives to support cooperation and knowledge-sharing between VET institutions and providers on “green skills”, and make training offers adaptable and flexible according to people’s needs and economic transformations. It promotes the innovation of VET systems, considering VET as a responsive supply chain for strengthening employability of people, offering upskilling and reskilling opportunities, strongly connected to the emerging skills needs and the evolution of the international labour market, supports the internationalization of VET providers and foresees the creation of a European Academy on circular economy, by adopting a learner-centred approach to training to maximize the achievement of learning outcomes, and by fostering the adoption of systematic approaches to skills foresight/anticipation, to update VET programmes, curricula and guidelines in a timely and effective manner, fighting the skills mismatching phenomenon.
