As Associate Editor, Prof. Phoebe Koundouri shares the launch of the Journal of Water Economics (JWE) — the new open-access continuation of Water Resources and Economics (WRE).
The Journal of Water Economics publishes theoretical and empirical research on the economics of water resources, addressing topics such as allocation, governance, pricing, regulation, policy instruments, valuation, and related issues at the intersection of economics and water management.
The journal is endorsed by the European Association of Environmental and Resource Economists (EAERE) and hosted by the University of Waterloo, with support from its Water Institute.
Beginning 1 November 2025, all submissions will be managed through our new platform, with the first issue scheduled for publication in January 2026. The goal is to ensure a seamless transition and to continue serving as the leading international forum for innovative and impactful research in water economics.
Researchers are warmly invited to submit their work and contribute to shaping the next chapter of scholarship in water economics.
