On Tuesday, May 23, 2023, Professor Phoebe Koundouri had the honor of presenting the remarkable work of the Alliance of Excellence in Research and Innovation for Aephoria (AE4RIA) to 186 sixth-grade students and their teachers at Athens College (HAEF). The presentation took place as part of their IB PYP Transdisciplinary Studies.
During the session, Prof. Koundouri emphasized the significance of multidisciplinary research, innovation, and the power of effective collaboration in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Special focus was dedicated to SDG14: Life Below Water and Prof Koundouri demonstrated the multitude of projects and initiatives that AE4RIA successfully leads in this particular sector. Dr. Georgina Spyres and Ms. Lydia Papadaki, researchers from AE4RIA, also joined the session, enriching the discussion with their valuable insights.
The discussion also revolved around fostering a collaborative effort involving HAEF students and teachers, AE4RIA researchers, and SDSN Greece for educational and training programs aimed at measuring the school’s progress in attaining the SDGs.
The interactive session left a lasting impact, inspiring the young minds to contribute towards a sustainable future.
