On Tuesday, January 31, 2023, a delegation meeting took place at the premises of the Water Board of Lemesos ,Cyprus in the framework of the (ERC) Water-Futures project.
From the side of the Water Board of Lemesos, the meeting was attended by Socrates Metaxas, Manager (WBL), Natasa Neokleous, Solomos Charalambous, Phryne Potamou and Panayiotis Michael. From the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), the head of the Greek delegation was Phoebe Koundouri, professor at the Athens University of Economics and the Technical University of Denmark, President of EAERE with her team, Dr. Conrad Landis, Dr. Ebun Akinsete and Dr. Alina Velias. The meeting was also attended by a representative of the KIOS Research and Innovation Center of Excellence, Pavlos Pavlou of the University of Cyprus with which WBL has a Memorandum of Cooperation.
(ERC) Water Futures project aims to develop a basis for the design of smart water systems that provide a framework for decision-making regarding resource allocation and development in drinking water infrastructure systems.
During the meeting, it was examined how the Water Board of Lemesos could contribute and at the same time be helped by its involvement in the specific project.
The collaboration between the Water Board of Lemesos and AUEB aims to implement models developed by the OPA team for optimal interdisciplinary management of water resources. It was also discussed how the pricing policy can influence the consumption behavior of SYL customers, to achieve optimal water management based on both the EU Water Framework Directive and the goals of sustainable development (UN Agenda 2030).
