The COP29 side event of the International Youth Sustainable Innovation Summit (YSS) highlighted the unique perspectives and achievements of young leaders in sustainable innovation. As the first global summit integrating innovation, sustainability, and business, YSS focuses annually on youth-driven solutions. It brings together leaders from government, enterprises, top investors, NGOs, innovative businesses, and media to collaborate on sustainability.
During the event, Dr. Binbin Wang, Institute of Carbon Neutrality, Peking University launched the C Force Lab & Food System Transition Global Accelerator, which aspires to advance sustainability through new cultural narratives, transformative agendas, and a global network of visionary leaders., in a panel discussion on transformative pathways for a sustainable future.
Prof. Phoebe Koundouri ,as Chair of the SDSN Global Climate Hub, highlighted the Hub’s role in facilitating global collaboration. Alongside Prof. Yannis Ioannidis, President of the Association for Computing Machinery and Co-founder of the Hub, and Dr. Ebun Akinsete, Senior Researcher at AE4RIA and Head of the Participatory Approaches Unit, the discussion focused on the Hub’s mission to develop integrated solution pathways for national and international systems. They emphasized the importance of cross-disciplinary collaboration in driving urgent, transformative change, aiming to support climate neutrality and resilience through approaches rooted in socio- economic and financial systems and enhanced by participatory, stakeholder-led design.
