On Thursday, February 27, MariTechEU proudly launched the first online training, marking the exciting beginning of an intrapreneurial journey for maritime professionals and innovators. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, expert-led discussions, and real-world case studies, exploring how intrapreneurship can drive innovation within the maritime sector.
Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri, Principal Investigator of the project at Athena Research Center, shared invaluable insights on the policy framework for the transition to sustainability. She emphasized cutting-edge scientific approaches for achieving climate neutrality and resilience in shipping and port operations, while also highlighting initiatives, projects, and case studies on sustainable blue economy strategies, digitalization, and green technologies—pioneered by AE4RIA.
The MariTech Talent Project (https://maritech-node.eu/), funded under the Horizon Europe program, is dedicated to fostering green and digital upskilling within the maritime industry by connecting professionals with innovative enterprises. AE4RIA’s team, led by Prof. Dr. Phoebe Koundouri and supported by researchers Eleni Toli, Panagiota Koltsida, and Lydia Papadaki, is driving the creation of a South-East maritime collaboration node. The team is also leading several crucial initiatives, including the development of a Quality Assurance Plan, mapping the regional maritime industry’s twin skills needs, and scaling up the MariTech Talent Programme.
This launch is just the beginning, and MariTech is excited to continue fostering innovation and sustainability in the maritime sector.
