A new policy note co-authored by Prof. Phoebe Koundouri and members of our team has been published, contributing to current developments in Water Economics and Policy.
“Advancing Water Policy in Europe: Addressing Challenges in the Southeast Mediterranean within the Water Futures Project” is co-authored by Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, Dr. Ebun Akinsete, Angelos Alamanos, Roy Brouwer, Sofia Frantzi, Dr. Conrad Landis, Lydia Papadaki, Hezal Dilan Sari, and Dr. Theofanis Zacharatos.
The publication examines the escalating water stress across Europe—particularly in the Southeast Mediterranean—and outlines an integrated policy approach developed within the ERC-funded Water Futures Project and the SDSN Global Climate Hub. The proposed framework integrates cross-sectoral modelling, digital-twin forecasting, experimental and behavioral economics, Living Labs, and technological pilot initiatives to support the co-design of effective, resilient, and socially equitable water solutions.
