On the occasion of the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations, Prof. Koundouri gave five different speeches in New York. These speeches were focused on the presentation of the SDSN Global Climate Hub that she chairs, as well as the SDSN and AE4RIA research on the acceleration of SDGs Implementation.
More specifically, she gave a speech:
- at the SDSN Leadership Council meeting in the session “Achieving Net Zero and COP 27” together with Patricia Espinosa, Former Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, Laurence Tubiana, CEO, European Climate Foundation, and Enrico Giovannini, Italian Minister of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility. The session was moderated by Wing Thye Woo, VP for Asia and Head of the Kuala Lumpur Office, SDSN.
- at the SDSN Network Chairs Meeting in the session “Initiative3: Deep decarbonization pathways” during the discussion of Global Initiatives in which she presented the SDSN Global Climate Hub, along with Wing Woo, VP for Asia, SDSN, who presented “The ASEAN Green Future project” and John Thwaites, Chair of SDSN Australia/NZ/Pacific who presented the “Net Zero Universities project”.
- at the XXIV High-Level Meeting: “Challenges & Multi-stakeholder Responses to peace, security & climate crisis” organized by Nizami Ganjavi International Center, with the title: “The Climate Change Crisis: SDG-based carbon neutral technological and socioeconomic pathways”.
- at the 10th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) in which she moderated along with Prof. Chrysi Laspidou the session “3D | Connecting Science and Policy”. The theme of papers presented was “Collaboration Models for the SDGs: Connecting Science and Policy” where Dr. Angelos Alamanos, from our AE4RIA team presented the paper “Multi-Stakeholder Platforms for Water Management: Connecting policy and Science”, (co-authored: Dr. A. Alamanos & Prof. P. Koundouri).
- at the 10th Annual International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD) in which she moderated the Plenary 7 | Financing the Joint Implementation of the SDGs and the European Green Deal. Among the speakers were: Prof. Leonardo Becchetti, Full Professor at University of Rome Tor Vergata, Mr. Ketan Patel, CEO Greater Pacific Capital, Mrs. Ilenia Gaia Romani, Researcher Fondazione Eni Enrico Mattei (FEEM) & Prof. Theodoros Zachariadis, The Cyprus Institute, SDSN Europe Manager. In the session the second annual report of the EGD SWG was presented entitled ‘Financing the Transformations for the Joint Implementation of Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development and the European Green Deal’.
