The Role of the Greek Higher Education Institutions in promoting the SDGs

Exploring the role of Greek higher education institutions in promoting the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the purpose of this event is to raise awareness about the SDGs and sustainable best practices in such institutions.

The event is organized in the context of UN SDSN Greece’s overall initiative regarding sustainability in higher education in Greece, based on UN’s 4.7 mission, which aims to contribute to raising awareness and educating students, faculty and staff of academic institutions on the SDGs and sustainable best practices on campus, the inclusion of sustainability across the curriculum as well as establishing synergies of academic institutions with organizations and other external partners for the promotion of the SDGs.

This event invites students, academics, and conscious citizens who wish to learn more about the crucial role education plays in forming a sustainable society.

In the midst of the third wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, The American College of Greece, invites all members of its community (students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, business partners and friends) to take part in the upcoming 2-day blood drive, organized in collaboration with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the Athens University of Economics and Business. This initiative falls within the framework of the promotion of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals and in particular Goal 3, which promotes health and well-being as well as Goal 4, which aims at the cultivation of sensitized and responsible citizens through access to quality education.

All precautionary measures, as directed by EODY, will be taken in order to safeguard the health and safety of the blood donors, as indicated for the Covid-19 pandemic. The blood drive will take place at the spacious Deree Student Lounge with the Deree Main Corridor used as a waiting area. Volunteers are invited to register online for a specific date and time slot to avoid overcrowding and waiting. Please note that parking is available on campus.
