Carbon neutrality has become a global priority. Following COP28, awareness of the urgency for stronger climate action has grown. This event brought together senior government representatives, Chinese and international experts to discuss shifts in global climate governance and trends in international cooperation. A roundtable explored key actors and emerging issues. Hosted by the Institute for Carbon Neutrality at Peking University, it was supported by the Yale Center for International Leadership, Chatham House, and several Tsinghua University institutions.
Prof. Phoebe Koundouri, during the panel “Global Climate Governance and International Cooperation,” shared insights on SDSN Global Climate Hub Report: Modeling Net Zero Pathways, launched at COP28 UAE. The report highlights decarbonization pathways for the energy and land-use sectors in the EU and explores the link between renewable energy and ecosystem restoration in Southeast Asia: Read more here. Discussions also focused on collaboration with Peking University to develop decarbonization pathways for China under the SDSN Global Climate Hub, supporting global initiatives and aligning with China’s national decarbonization strategies.
