Horizon EU Maritech Talent project meeting in Athens

The Horizon EU Maritech Talent project meeting took place in Athens on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. The project meeting was organized and attended by ATHENA RC representatives Lydia Papadaki, Eleni Toli, Panagiota Koltsida, and ATHENA RC Principal Investigator Prof. Phoebe Koundouri. Also present were Hamanova Mariyana and Tanya Dimitrova from CleanTech Bulgaria, Alexandros Charalambides from Cyprus University of Technology, and Stelios Procopiou from Chrysalis LEAP.

The discussions focused on the core activities of the project. The MariTech Talent will create a dual-transition INTRApreneurship skills development program that brings marine sector professionals and innovative digital firms together for two-way learning. The plan will provide maritime workers with twin skills and support deep-tech solution providers in creating crucial technologies for the twin transition. The MariTech Talent program will use a challenge-based INTRApreneurship methodology to teach by addressing ports and marine enterprises’ most pressing demands.

Current workers, deep tech startups, scaleups, and SMEs will collaborate to implement tangible solutions while receiving training. The curriculum will provide maritime workers with green and digital transition skills. They will work directly with deep tech solution providers to learn machine learning and data analysis for predictive maintenance, energy management systems, system integration, automation, remote operation, cybersecurity, and e-navigation, which enable the twin transition in the maritime industry. On the other hand, it will reveal the relevance and efficacy of digital solutions. In the end, marine enterprises and ports will learn how digital technologies may improve their operations, and their staff will become proficient in their use.

Following the project meeting, project partners and stakeholders from the three countries came together for networking drinks at the Radisson Blu Park Hotel. During the networking session, they engaged in conversation and exchanged ideas for the project’s advancement. On Wednesday, June 5, 2024, they visited the Posidonia 2024 Exhibition, where they met with key stakeholders operating in the maritime sector and discussed possible synergies.
