The 2nd “Effective Dialogue – Reality Check” Conference took place on June 4th 2024 for the second consecutive year to make its mark in an era characterised by a deep environmental crisis, intense social turmoil and challenges at a global level. Sympraxis, the Hellenic Consultation Institute and ANIMA are joining forces with a wide range of participants from various sectors of society –corporate world, Non-Governmental Organisations, Greek State, journalists, artists, influencers and sustainability experts– to highlight the importance of communication and finding solutions through fruitful dialogue and effective compromises on divergent views. Against the background of a world in urgent need of sustainable solutions for society, ecosystems and vital institutions such as Democracy, the Conference aspires to redefine the parameters of dialogue. The 2nd Effective Dialogue Conference aimed to inspire hope, promote change and effectively contribute to the global pursuit of a sustainable and just future. It is an invitation to all stakeholders to engage in meaningful communication against growing misinformation, polarisation and climate collapse.
The panel focused on “Sustainable consumption against the unconscious waste of natural resources” highlighting the urgent need for sustainable consumption and contrasting it with the detrimental effects of resource waste.
In Prof. Phoebe Koundouri’s speech, she referenced the Europe Sustainable Development Report 2023/24 (ESDR) which provides an independent quantitative assessment of the progress by the European Union, its member states, and partner countries towards the Sustainable Development Goals SDGs.
Additionally, I mentioned Europe’s insufficient investment in infra
structure to support the green and digital transition and I introduced our collaborative report with Huawei which utilized AI-based methodologies to identify crucial skills and occupations necessary for implementing the Green and Digital Transformation outlined in the European Green Deal.
